Chelmsford Summer Flute Camp 2018 will be held from July 23 to 27. This summer program is designed for flutists who want to improve their playing, meet fellow flute players, experience what it is like to play in a flute choir/ensemble, and have a great time while making music! This summer should feature some guest appearances and a possible trial of some wonderful, high end, handmade instruments! The camp meets at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts.
Novice Session 9:00AM -11:00AM
This session is for students with at least one year of training, have played in beginning band for a year and/or have started private lessons to begin instruction if they have not started in school yet. Rhythms are simple and the chamber music is limited to the entire group playing duets and trios, allowing each flutist to feel confident in playing their part with support from a section. We will focus on basic scales, healthy warm-ups, hand/body position, sound production, and is an introduction to playing together as a chamber ensemble.
Intermediate/Advanced Session 11:15AM – 1:30PM
This session is for students with at least two years of training and have played in their band program for at least two years. Rhythms are more complicated and students may be challenged to perform independent parts. We will focus on all major/minor scales, advanced warm-ups, anatomical awareness, cueing, vibrato, expression, extended techniques, and will further advance chamber ensemble playing.
Refer a fellow flute player to camp and receive a $20 discount if they attend the camp!
You must register by July 1, 2018 in order to receive your camp T-shirt in time for the culmination concert!
